I had the same reaction the first time I moved that slider.
You see “redeem your miles” and think you’re about to score something decent. Then it works out to basically nothing per mile. 142k miles to knock a few hundred euros off a ticket is painful.
Especially when those miles could be a proper business class redemption during a promo. That comparison makes it look even worse.
I get that Cash & Miles is more of a convenience option than a “sweet spot,” but 0.29 cents per mile feels almost insulting. It’s like a built in bad deal for people who don’t run the numbers.
I’ve never used it for that reason. I’d rather save the miles for an actual award ticket.
