At first glance the new Qantas tier table doesn’t seem that dramatic. But when you factor in the loyalty bonuses disappearing, it’s a much bigger jump than it looks.
Silver goes from 250 to 300 to retain.
Gold jumps from 550 to 700.
Platinum from 1,100 to 1,400.
That’s about a 27% increase for Gold and Platinum when you actually run the numbers.
If you were just comfortably requalifying before, this could push a lot of people under the line unless they add extra flights.
Feels like status just got a lot more expensive overnight.
