Curious if anyone else has run into this with Qantas recently.
We had flights booked via Dubai for the end of this month, returning next month. We waited to cancel until Qantas announced that flights booked before March 6, 2026 for travel between Feb 28 and March 31 could get a fee-free refund, fee-free credit, or fee-free date change.
So we submitted the cancellation request expecting the full refund.
The request page had the usual wording about being “subject to prevailing cancellation fees,” but we assumed that wouldn’t apply because of the fee-free refund policy they announced.
The refund came through today… but they still deducted the cancellation fee. Across three passengers, we’re now about $1200 short.
Feels pretty misleading given the “fee-free refund” announcement.
Has anyone had success appealing this with Qantas or getting the fees refunded afterward?
