My partner and I are traveling from Australia into Germany and then on to Norway soon, and we were really excited about getting passport stamps. Our passports are basically empty and it feels kind of special, especially coming from so far away.
With e gates and Schengen rules, I’m not sure how realistic that is anymore. If I ask the officer nicely, will they still stamp the passport, or is it pretty much a hard no now?
If they won’t stamp the actual passport, I’m also thinking of bringing a small sentimental travel “passport” to collect stamps and stickers. Do border officers ever stamp those instead?
Totally understand if the answer is no because of time or policy, just curious what people’s experiences have been.
