I’m looking at a KLM business class award from BLR to AMS on the same nonstop flight, same cabin, same date. The only thing changing is the miles required, but the cash component also jumps a lot:
85k miles + ~€340
252.5k miles + ~€458
340k miles + ~€576
585.5k miles + ~€908
Airport taxes should be fixed, so this doesn’t really make sense to me. On other Flying Blue routes I’ve checked, the cash amount usually stays roughly the same even when mileage pricing is dynamic.
Is KLM dynamically adjusting carrier imposed surcharges based on the award pricing tier or underlying fare bucket? Or is this some Flying Blue specific behavior or route specific quirk out of India?
Curious if anyone has insight into how this is actually calculated.
