With the news about Alaska ordering more MAX 10s and 787s, this really got me thinking. They’re talking about a fleet of around 550 aircraft by 2035, which is almost double where they are now.
Seattle is already getting a new terminal, San Diego feels pretty maxed out after moving flights from SFO and LAX, and Portland will obviously grow some. But with that many planes coming, it feels like they’ll need more than just incremental expansion.
Hard to see all that growth fitting into the current setup. Makes me wonder if a brand new hub is coming at some point.
Curious what others think. Where would Alaska realistically build their next hub?
