I loved reading through everyone’s answers on this. It’s funny how the little “why am I packing this?” things end up saving a trip.
My own is keeping a couple of random “fix anything” items in my bag: a few safety pins, a short strip of duct tape wrapped around an old card, and 2–3 Ziploc bags. Between those, I’ve fixed a busted backpack strap, sealed leaking toiletries, and turned a grocery bag into an emergency laundry sack more times than I can count.
Also kind of on board with the “check a bag and stop suffering” crowd. I used to force everything into a carry-on for weeks at a time, now I’d rather check and not babysit my stuff all day.
What’s the one hack you use that sounds ridiculous until you actually try it?
