That’s brutal, especially on a premium transcon.
If it was a true aircraft swap to a non-Mint aircraft, that explains the system auto-downgrade. JetBlue doesn’t have a ton of spare Mint-configured planes, so when they sub in a non-Mint bird on JFK/LAX type routes, it creates chaos fast.
If Mint was simply oversold with cash passengers, they usually don’t just silently kick Mosaic upgrades without a schedule change trigger. The fact your itinerary reissued and became “multi-city” screams equipment change in the backend.
You did the right thing calling instead of relying on chat. Once the system splits the PNR like that, self-service basically breaks.
As for choice:
Old Mint throne > new Mint standard seat, in my opinion, if the throne experience was the goal.
If the new Mint cabin is important to you both experiencing it together, then new Mint wins for consistency.
Move to Mint certs should redeposit if the upgrade can’t be honored. I’d double-check your cert balance after this settles.
Not the best first Mosaic 3 experience… but at least you salvaged one throne seat.
