Upgrade from Business to First on Lufthansa… cheaper strategy?

Looking at flying to Buenos Aires on Lufthansa and would love to try First.

Trying to game it a bit… is it usually cheaper to book Business and then upgrade to First later instead of just buying First outright?

If upgrades are possible, what do they typically cost? Is it cash, miles, bidding, or totally route-dependent?

Curious if this strategy actually works in practice or if it ends up costing the same (or more).
