Unintentional skip lagging question

Weird situation and not trying to game the system here. I flew to Chicago for a funeral, my return to Harrisburg got canceled, and now I’m just staying in Chicago and taking next week off work.

I was supposed to fly Harrisburg to Chicago to Fort Wayne later, but since I’m already in Chicago, I’m wondering what happens if I skip the first leg and just show up at O’Hare for the Chicago to Fort Wayne flight.

Would the airline cancel the rest of the trip or flag my account for that? I’ve heard horror stories about skip lagging, but this feels more accidental than intentional.

Anyone dealt with something like this before?
