Trying to burn expiring Singapore miles without losing the newer ones

I’ve got about 10k KrisFlyer miles expiring soon. I have more miles overall, but it’s just this chunk that’s about to die and I won’t be flying SIA again before then.

Instead of paying to extend them and maybe never using them, I’m thinking about transferring them out to Marriott or ALL. I know the transfer option exists, I’m just nervous about how the system chooses which miles to pull.

Does KrisFlyer actually use the expiring miles first when you transfer, or is there a risk it grabs the newer miles instead? Don’t want to make things worse by accident.

If anyone’s done this recently, would love to know how it worked in practice.
