I booked JFK to Brussels via Copenhagen with a 50 minute layover. Carry on only, figured I’d gamble. Outbound actually worked. We landed only about 5 minutes late and I made it, but I could see how immigration lines could easily mess that up on a busier morning.
Return was a different story. Flight from Brussels got delayed waiting on passengers with checked bags. Landed at CPH with 8 minutes to connect, so that was obviously not happening.
Immigration staff pulled me out of line and sent me to the transfer desk. A bunch of other US bound passengers were in the same situation. SAS rebooked me via London and I got home late but without major drama.
Overall I like SAS and I’m glad they’re in SkyTeam now, but I probably wouldn’t book a 50 minute connection at CPH again. It’s just too tight if anything goes wrong.
