I’m 22 and have backpacked around Europe and parts of Southeast and East Asia, but when I step back and think about it… I’ve barely explored the US.
I’ve done some of the West and a bit of the East Coast, plus Hawai'i. But I’ve never been to NYC, Chicago, Miami, SF. Never seen the Grand Canyon or Yosemite, even though I’ve lived in Arizona on and off for 5 years. Kind of wild when I say it out loud.
I’d love to travel more around the US, but it just feels harder. It’s expensive, huge distances, limited public transport, not much hostel culture. Out west especially, you almost need a car and long solo road trips aren’t always appealing.
Anyone else feel like they’ve seen more of the world than their own backyard? For those who’ve done solo US travel, how did you make it work without spending a fortune?
