Switched from Flighty to ByAir, solid progress but still a few gaps

Been about six months since I moved from Flighty to ByAir, mainly because I wanted something cross platform while I test switching back to Android. Subscribed to Pro and overall I’m happy with the direction it’s going.

Big credit to the team. The app has improved a lot in a short time and support is very responsive. Valdis deserves a medal for how patient he’s been with my constant bug reports.

That said, there are still a few things Flighty does better that I really miss. Live notifications can be a bit weird, sometimes I get multiple updates with no obvious change. When the phone is in airplane mode, notifications and widgets basically vanish, which makes it hard to even see flight progress. I also miss being able to toggle live notifications per flight, especially for friends’ flights.

The map tracking doesn’t seem to update properly for me and often just shows the plane sitting at the departure airport. Widgets going blank offline is also annoying. I’d love to see inbound aircraft tracking and clearer delay reasons too. That stuff really helps call out airline nonsense. Liveries and aircraft type grouping still feel hit or miss, especially for Canadian airlines.

All that said, the fact that it works across platforms makes it worth sticking with. If they keep iterating at this pace, it’s going to be a very strong Flighty alternative.
