Stuck on the tarmac for 6+ hours because Hawaiian couldn’t do basic math

This sounds brutal. Boarding at 2pm and then sitting at the gate for over six hours because of repeated weight miscalculations is unreal.

Too many carry ons, then weight shifting, then adding too much fuel and suddenly the plane is 5,000 lbs overweight? Ending up rerouted to Honolulu just to eventually get to LAX is wild.

At this point I’d definitely file a formal complaint with Hawaiian once you land. Use their customer relations form and be very specific about timelines and the fact that this was operational incompetence, not weather. Also keep screenshots, boarding time, delay notices, everything. If meals or vouchers weren’t provided during a delay that long, mention that too.

Reimbursement is hit or miss in the US, but for a 6+ hour onboard delay after boarding, you at least have a solid case for goodwill compensation or credits. I’d also consider a DOT complaint if Hawaiian shrugs it off.

Anyone else been on HA964 or had Hawaiian melt down like this before?
