Spirit Airlines might actually be running out of runway

Just read a Forbes piece about Spirit and… yikes. Sounds like this is getting very real, very fast.

Pilots are literally writing open letters begging creditors to keep funding the airline. They only got half of the latest $100M lifeline, and the rest depends on showing progress. That doesn’t scream confidence. Especially when pilots and flight attendants already gave up $100M in concessions and they’re still furloughing people.

What really stood out was that even United is adding routes basically saying “in case Spirit collapses.” That feels like an industry reading the writing on the wall.

Spirit has been in and out of bankruptcy, rejected mergers, burned through cash, and now the bondholders seem to be holding all the cards. As a consumer I love cheap fares, but this feels like the end of an era if they don’t pull off another miracle.

Curious what others think. Is this just more Spirit drama, or are we actually close to seeing them disappear?
