Southwest assigned seating rollout is a mess

Just boarded and wow… Southwest does not seem ready for assigned seats.

Boarding took way longer than usual. I paid $65 on a 45 minute flight to sit in row 3 and got Group 2. Fine. But there’s clearly not enough overhead bin space for the front rows now that people can lock in those seats ahead of time.

By the time I boarded, bins near row 3 were full and I had to stash my bag halfway down the plane. So now I get to fight upstream during deplaning after paying extra for a “better” experience.

A bunch of the other people who paid for the front rows were annoyed too.

Feels like they rolled this out without thinking through the bin space or flow. First world problem, sure. But if you’re charging for specific seats, the experience shouldn’t be worse than before.

Anyone else seeing the same thing?
