Quick win that saved me some cash.
Booked 3 nights in Lisbon about 6 weeks out. Paid around $780 for a refundable rate. A few weeks later I randomly checked again. Same room, same dates. Now it was about $690.
Canceled and rebooked.
Checked one more time right before the free cancellation deadline and it dropped again to $642. In total I saved about $140 for maybe 5 minutes of effort.
I used to assume once you book, that’s it. But hotel prices move a lot.
Now I always book refundable if the price difference isn’t crazy, and I check at least once before the window closes.
Do most people actually recheck, or do you just book and forget?
