Had a Madrid to Delhi trip booked for March 14 with a connection in Doha. The first leg was Iberia (codeshare) and the second leg was Qatar Airways.
With all the current airspace issues in the Middle East, the Madrid–Doha flights started getting cancelled and mine was eventually cancelled on March 5.
Called Qatar right after seeing the cancellation. Took about an hour to get through but the agent was actually very helpful. At first there weren’t partner airline options available, but after checking again they found a reroute the same day.
Now the new itinerary is Madrid to London, then London to Delhi on British Airways. Arrival is March 15, only a few hours later than the original schedule.
Considering how chaotic things are right now, that felt like a pretty good outcome. Especially since similar reroutes through Europe were already selling for €1000+ one way when checking earlier.
One thing that became clear during the process is that Qatar usually won’t move you to other airlines until the original flight is officially cancelled. Once it is, partner options can open up.
