The State Department just updated its Mexico travel alert and added terrorism on top of the existing crime/kidnapping warnings. Some states are now “Do Not Travel” while even popular spots like Jalisco, Baja, and Guanajuato are at Level 3. Cancun and Cozumel are still Level 2 but with caution.
I’ve gone to Mexico plenty of times without issues, but reading this makes me think twice about some areas I used to consider safe.
