Missed boarding on standby during snowstorm, any chance of compensation?

This happened during the big snowstorm in Germany around Jan 10. Original booking was Stuttgart to Munich to Seoul.

Flight from Stuttgart was 3 hours late, so I missed the Munich to Seoul leg. At the service desk they rebooked me Munich to Amsterdam to Seoul the same evening. I was put on standby for the AMS flight and told I’d get the last seat.

At the gate in Munich, only one gate agent was boarding and she was clearly stressed. When I scanned my boarding pass it got rejected because of standby. She told me to step aside and wait until the end, then she’d let me on.

After almost everyone boarded, maybe 10 of us left, she suddenly got a call and then immediately closed the gate. Said her supervisor told her to close and she couldn’t let anyone else board because it would delay the flight.

Back to the service desk again. They rebooked me Munich to Warsaw, overnight hotel, then Warsaw to Seoul the next morning. Flew to Warsaw, went to the hotel, then at 1am the Warsaw to Seoul flight was cancelled. Automatically rebooked to Warsaw to Prague to Seoul later that day. Final Prague to Seoul flight did operate, but I still lost a full day.

I filed a complaint with Lufthansa and they said there were no operational issues and I’m not eligible for compensation.

My issue is that I was physically at the gate for the AMS flight and was told to wait, then denied boarding. Do you think this is worth escalating to a claims company, or should I just let it go?
