Marriott promised elite nights from a work stay, now says no

This is such a frustrating Bonvoy situation. Stayed four nights at a Marriott for a company event. Employer paid, so no points, which is fine. But the hotel staff specifically said the nights would count, and the stay even showed up in the app under the member number at the time.


Those nights were the difference between Gold and Platinum. Now that 2026 status is processing, Marriott is saying the nights don’t count because it was a block booking. That’s a brutal surprise, especially since if they’d been clear upfront, booking one extra night would’ve been easy.


Given that staff explicitly promised the nights and it appeared in the app, I really hope Bonvoy makes this right. Curious if anyone’s had success getting Marriott to credit a single night in cases like this, or if there’s a specific escalation path that actually works.
