Had a short late night flight out of SEA last night, about $600 total for two of us. Went to print bag tags at the kiosk and got an error. Counter agent then told us the flight had just been canceled for mechanical reasons.
No app notification and our boarding passes stayed active for a while, so I’m really glad we showed up early and found out in person.
The agent immediately rebooked us on the next flight out, about an hour later. It was the last flight of the night and ended up going out completely full with 18 people still on the waitlist, but she somehow got us the exact same seats we’d originally chosen.
To make things harder, her system kept going down. Bag tags, seat assignments, boarding passes… all acting up. She stayed calm the entire time and moved things along as fast as she could.
She also gave us a one night hotel voucher at our destination since we had a long drive ahead, plus $48 in meal vouchers valid through next year. Woke up this morning to a $100 travel credit apology email as well.
We don’t have any status and only started flying Alaska a few months ago. Really impressed with how well this was handled.
