Every time I land at IST it’s the same story. 20 to 25 minutes just taxiing to the gate, then a long walk to passport control on top of that. Transfers are especially painful. I’ve missed tight connections here more than once.
I get that it’s massive and can handle a ton of traffic, but convenience clearly wasn’t the priority. It feels like it was built to look impressive rather than function smoothly for passengers.
Another frustration is communication. A lot of airport staff don’t seem to speak basic English, which makes things harder in an airport that’s supposed to be a global hub.
People brag about this airport all the time, but I honestly don’t see it. Ataturk Airport was way more practical and easier to navigate, even if it was smaller.
Curious if I’m alone on this or if others feel the same.
