This would drive me insane. Forced to gate check a carry on at the jet bridge, watched it get left right there… and somehow it ends up on a plane to a different city.
Now they’re in another country with none of their stuff for at least a day. That’s the part I never understand. If the bag is taken at the door of the aircraft, how does it even get routed wrong? It should literally be going on that exact plane.
Gate checking is already annoying, but when it turns into a full blown lost bag situation it feels unacceptable. Curious if anyone knows how this actually happens behind the scenes, because from the passenger side it makes zero sense.
