I fly pretty often and have had Star Alliance Gold (TK) for years. I usually book economy or econ plus and don’t expect much beyond that.
But lately I’ve been on a ridiculous streak of free gate upgrades. Lufthansa, Turkish, SWISS, TAP. Just last week I got bumped from economy to business on SWISS from ZRH to JNB. Before that an Austrian intra-Europe flight, and earlier this year both directions across the Atlantic on TAP.
I’m always polite, never demand anything, usually just ask for an exit row if available. That’s it. No miles, no cash, just surprise upgrades at the gate.
Does this kind of streak happen to others sometimes, or am I just absurdly lucky right now?
