Trying to see if this is normal or if I am just getting the runaround.
Back in November 2024 my Toronto to Dublin flight was canceled after we had already boarded. Aircraft issue. I ended up booking a different airline myself the same day and made it to Europe.
A few hours later Aer Lingus sent a rebooking for 2 days later, which I obviously did not need. I called and chose a refund instead. They confirmed the rebooking was removed.
Since December 2024 I have been chasing the refund. Monthly emails saying the case is being reviewed. Phone agents saying it is escalated. Then this month I call again and they tell me the case was closed because they “tried to contact me” and I did not respond. No one can tell me how they supposedly contacted me.
Now they are saying to open a new case, but the website will not even recognize my old booking reference.
Is this typical with Aer Lingus? Has anyone actually managed to get a cancellation refund out of them after this kind of delay?
