Flight attendant spills real truth about overhead bin space and cruise luggage

Flew AA back from a Caribbean cruise this week and saw the new carry-on rules in action. They’re really enforcing the 22x14x9 size at MIA, lots of late boarders got tagged and charged $65 to gate-check. Wildest part? The 777-200 business class bins actually fit less than economy bins because of the ceiling curve.

Between that and cruise cabins only having 22-inch door frames, I’m switching to a smaller underseat bag that always fits. With AA even adding a $40 “guaranteed overhead bin” fee next month, the bin gamble feels over.
