First time cruise… balcony or spend the money elsewhere?

Booking my first cruise and stuck on the classic debate. Do I splurge on a balcony or save the cash for excursions, drinks, and food?

I can afford the balcony thanks to some extra work money, but I keep going back and forth. On paper it sounds great. Private space away from the crowds, coffee with an ocean view, fresh air whenever, somewhere to dry swimsuits, watching sailaways and scenic days from your own room.

But realistically, my partner and I will probably just sleep in the cabin. Part of me would rather put that $800 toward excursions, specialty dining, and overpriced cocktails.

I’m also a little worried an inside cabin will feel like sleeping in a fancy closet for a week.

For people who’ve cruised before, is a balcony actually worth it? Or is it one of those things you use once or twice and forget about?
