Had something new happen on a recent Alaska flight out of Burbank. The gate agent announced the flight would be weight restricted because of strong winds and the extra fuel needed.
They asked for 11 volunteers to take a later flight from LAX instead. The offer was a $500 voucher plus transportation to LAX, and they got enough people pretty quickly.
I also overheard the gate agent say they could only take 88 checked bags on the aircraft.
Made me curious what happens to the bags that don’t make the cutoff. Do they usually get sent on a later flight or rerouted through another airport?
