Had a business class ticket from Paris to Tokyo with Air France. On the day of the flight I was involuntarily downgraded to Premium Economy because the flight was overbooked.
A few hours later they called and offered business seats on an Emirates flight leaving later. That sounded fine, but it meant arriving about 4 hours later than planned.
Then the Emirates flight was delayed, which caused us to miss the connection in Dubai. We ended up getting rerouted via Hong Kong before finally reaching Tokyo.
Total travel time ended up around 30 hours instead of the original 17, and we also lost a prepaid hotel night.
Trying to figure out if EU261 applies in a situation like this with the downgrade and long delay.
