Flying BKK to AMS and ran into an argument at the bag drop. One of our bags was 24.2kg and the agent wanted to charge an overweight fee. The second bag was only 13.5kg, so together we were well under the 46kg total allowance for the booking.
Earlier this year I flew KLM to NRT and they didn’t care that one bag was slightly over as long as the total was under. I’ve also flown Jetstar and AirAsia and even they’ve always gone by combined weight for a single booking.
So what’s the actual KLM rule here? Is combined weight officially allowed and this agent was just being strict, or did we just get lucky on past flights?
