Do BA flights ever offer money for volunteers to take a later flight?

I always see stories from people flying in the US where airlines offer hundreds or even thousands in travel credit if a flight is overbooked and they need volunteers.

But I can’t remember ever hearing this happen on British Airways.

Does BA actually do this? If so, how common is it and what kind of compensation do they usually offer?
