Digital check in room selection keeps getting changed… why?

I always use digital check in because I like picking a top floor room away from the elevator. Lately though, I’ll select a room in the app and then show up and be assigned something completely different.


This has happened a few times now.


For context, I’m Diamond and stay 30 plus nights a year for work. So I’m just confused why the room I chose isn’t being honored.


Is there some internal reason hotels override digital selections? Inventory changes? Upgrades? Genuinely curious what’s going on.
