This one is pretty unreal. Flight SGF to ATL, boarding complete, then the pilot comes out and says we all have to deplane because the fire extinguisher is expired. Not just barely expired either. Apparently it expired 3/2025.
At first everyone thought it’d be a quick fix. Nope. We’re told the replacement has to be driven in from Des Moines, 5 to 6 hours away. End result is an 8.5 hour delay. A 1 pm departure turns into 9:25 pm, assuming we even leave today.
What blows my mind is how this plane has supposedly been flying multiple legs a day for months with an expired extinguisher and nobody caught it until now. How does that even happen?
Really disappointed with Delta on this one.
