Currently sitting on SQ351 from CPH to SIN. We pushed back on time and started taxiing, then about a minute later the captain comes on and says we’re returning to the gate.
Reason given was that a passenger with a severe allergy decided they didn’t want to fly after all. We went back, they offloaded the passenger and their bags, and now we’re looking at about a 1.5 hour delay.
I’m genuinely curious what the fallout is for something like this. Does the airline just eat the delay, or does the passenger face any consequences? Has anyone experienced this before?
I completely understand that serious allergies are no joke, but it’s hard to wrap my head around boarding a 12 hour flight and only deciding after pushback that you’re not comfortable flying.
