This one really threw me.
I was doing a same day round trip from OKC to DFW. My 5am flight got delayed 10 hours, then closer to 15. When I asked about getting on an earlier departure, they told me they were prioritizing passengers with onward connections.
So the 6am, 7am, and 8:38am flights filled up with connecting passengers. The 10:30 was already full too. Since I was just going point to point, they basically said I’d be handled last.
I couldn’t even rebook myself in the app. Eventually I had them cancel because there was no way I’d make my return.
It felt pretty crazy being told outright that because I wasn’t connecting, I wasn’t a priority. Is that standard practice or did I just get unlucky with how it was handled?
