Chase Sapphire Reserve plus ink Business card saves me 4000 dollars yearly on work travel

I expense about 45k annually on flights and hotels, and splitting spend between my Sapphire Reserve (flights, dining) and Ink Business Preferred (hotels, cell phone) nets me around 180k Ultimate Rewards points per year. That's roughly $2700 in travel when transferred to United, plus another $1200 in value from the Reserve's Priority Pass lounges, travel insurance, and $300 credit. The only downside is juggling minimum spend requirements - I had to time $15k in business expenses over 3 months to hit both bonuses.

The sweet spot is booking Star Alliance flights through United's portal using points from both cards. Last month I transferred 110k points for round-trip business class on ANA (NH176/177) from JFK-NRT, seats 7A/K. Cash price was $6,400 but I paid just 88k miles plus $130 in fees. The Sapphire Reserve travel portal shows the same flights for 128k points, so the multi-card transfer strategy saved 18k points. Between trip protection, lounge access, and reward flights, holding both cards more than offsets the combined $645 in annual fees for my travel patterns.
