CDG to PPT with a stop at LAX, is 2 hours even realistic?

Looking at a flight from Paris to Tahiti that stops at LAX. I’ve done a lot of travel but never a true stop like this. I’ve done US layovers where you clear immigration, grab your bags, then recheck, and that alone can eat up a lot of time.

Trying to picture doing immigration, luggage, customs, and getting back to the next flight in 2 hours at LAX and it sounds pretty tight. Feels risky.

I’m also considering doing a few day stop in LA, but I’d rather save that for the return if possible. Curious if anyone’s actually done this route and how stressful it is.
