Bayahibe Dominicus: The DR’s Quiet Gem That’s About to Boom?

I just read about The Don Dom development breaking ground in Bayahibe Dominicus, and it feels like this laid-back fishing village on the Dominican Republic’s southeast coast is about to be the next big thing. Unlike the hustle of Punta Cana, Bayahibe's appeal is its natural beauty, uncrowded beaches, and close access to Saona Island. Now with Hyatt’s Sunscape, Iberostar renovations, and this massive residential project coming in, it’s hard not to wonder will it stay charming or get overrun?

I’m all for growth, especially if it's thoughtfully done like this sounds, but part of me hopes it doesn’t lose its vibe. Has anyone been to Bayahibe recently? Would you pick it over Punta Cana for a relaxed Caribbean getaway?
