Bag lost for weeks, AirTag shows it at ZRH but no one will help

Flew Lufthansa from Munich to Malta via Zurich in late December. First leg was delayed, missed the ZRH Malta connection, and got rebooked by the transfer desk to fly the next morning ZRH to Malta via Belgrade.

My checked bag never made it to Malta.

I put an AirTag in the bag and can clearly see it’s still sitting in Zurich Airport, Terminal 2, basically right near the Lost & Found area. I filed a PIR as soon as I landed in Malta. It’s now been over two weeks. I’ve already returned home to Munich and the bag still hasn’t moved according to the AirTag.

I’ve contacted Lufthansa, Air Serbia (the last carrier), and Zurich Airport. Everyone just keeps pointing at each other. Zurich Airport says they have hundreds of lost bags since Christmas and can’t locate mine, even though I’ve sent photos and the AirTag location. Air Serbia tells me to file a compensation claim. Lufthansa says it’s Air Serbia’s responsibility.

It’s incredibly frustrating being able to see exactly where the bag is, but no one at the airport seems able or willing to retrieve it.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before or have any idea how to actually get someone to act when you have an AirTag showing the bag’s location?
