I ride between St Paul and Chicago a lot, about 7 to 8 hours, and I just got off one of the worst trips I’ve had. Not because of delays, but because of other passengers.
It felt like nonstop phone calls the entire ride. People in front of me, behind me, across the aisle. Putting one call on hold to answer another. Loud language. No awareness at all. Almost the whole trip there was someone near me on their phone.
I know banning phone use isn’t realistic, but the Empire Builder doesn’t have a quiet car. Neither does the Borealis. Even booking a roomette hasn’t helped for me. I’ve had neighbors on speakerphone.
Are other routes this bad too, or has this just gotten worse everywhere?
