Right now yes, AI 161 is typically the A350 on that route, but aircraft swaps can always happen. If you specifically want the A350, I’d keep an eye on the seat map and equipment closer to departure.
As for whether it’s worth the extra over the ex Vistara 787 business…
If you’ve already flown the 787, the A350 is definitely a step up in terms of cabin feel. Quieter, more modern, nicer lighting, and the new business cabin just feels fresher overall. It’s more about the overall experience than a radically different seat.
If the price difference is small to moderate, I’d say go for the A350 just to try it. If it’s a big jump, and you’re mostly after a flat bed and decent service, the 787 will still get the job done comfortably.
Mid May loads to LHR can be strong, so pricing won’t always be kind.
If it were me and I hadn’t tried the A350 yet, I’d probably pay a bit extra once just for the experience.
